Project: Uniform & Merch Print Design
The Challenge
Flatout Burger, a Brooklyn-based burger spot known for its bold flavors and laid-back vibe, approached By Shade to design uniforms and merchandise that would match their personality. They needed apparel that felt fresh, on-brand, and versatile — uniforms for staff that held up in a busy restaurant environment, and merch that fans would actually want to wear outside the shop. The goal was to create designs that captured the energy of Flatout Burger while ensuring the garments were functional, durable, and production-ready.The Process
Our focus was on blending identity with wearability. We worked closely with the Flatout team to explore creative directions that reflected their brand voice — bold, fun, and community-driven.Key Steps:- Concept Development: Built a series of print design concepts inspired by Flatout’s branding and Brooklyn street culture.
- Uniform Design: Crafted staff t-shirts and hoodies with strong logo placement and bold graphics, ensuring they were both professional and comfortable.
- Merch Development: Expanded the designs into a merch line that customers could buy — including printed tees, caps, and tote bags — bridging the gap between staff uniform and lifestyle apparel.
- Production Prep: Delivered final print-ready files with specifications optimized for screen printing and DTF.
The Result
Flatout Burger now has a uniform and merch system that aligns perfectly with their brand. Staff wear apparel that reinforces the restaurant’s identity, while the merch offers customers a way to rep their favorite burger spot beyond the walls of the shop. The designs are bold, versatile, and culture-driven — exactly what Flatout needed to expand their presence both inside and outside the restaurant.Client Feedback
