Project: Logo Rebrand & Visual Identity Development
The Challenge
RollerNinja approached By Shade looking to refresh their brand identity with a new logo that felt sharper, more confident, and better aligned with their evolving direction. The existing branding no longer reflected the energy, attitude, and credibility of the brand, particularly as RollerNinja continued to grow within the skating and action sports space.
The challenge was to develop a logo that balanced boldness and personality with longevity: something distinctive enough to stand out, but flexible enough to live across apparel, digital platforms, and physical products without dating quickly.

The Process
We approached the RollerNinja project with a concept-first mindset, focusing on creating a strong foundational mark before refining details.
The early phase was about understanding the brand’s tone, audience, and use cases then translating that into a logo system that could scale.
Key Steps:
-
Concept Exploration
Developed an initial logo concept that set a clear creative direction and visual language for the brand. -
Iterative Refinement
Worked through multiple revision rounds to refine proportions, balance, and overall feel, ensuring the logo remained true to the original concept while evolving toward the final mark. -
Practical Application Thinking
Designed with real-world usage in mind considering how the logo would function across apparel, digital assets, packaging, and merchandise. -
Final Logo Delivery
Delivered a refined logo that maintained the strength of the original concept, with subtle refinements to improve clarity, consistency, and versatility.

Client Feedback
“The initial logo concept was very strong and aligned well with what we were looking for. The overall quality and creativity were solid, and the final outcome was something we were happy with.” - Andy
This feedback reinforced an important takeaway: when the core concept is strong, refinement often becomes about precision rather than reinvention and clearer alignment during revision stages helps move faster toward that final polish.
